Share a folder
Give someone access to a whole folder of files for a session or release prep.
When to share a folder vs a single track
Use a folder share when:
- You're sending a stem pack with multiple files.
- You want one URL the collaborator can revisit as you add more files.
- Multiple tracks belong to one project (an EP, an album, a release prep).
Use a single-track share when:
- The artifact is one audio file.
- You want a clean listen page (waveform + comments) not a file list.
Creating a folder
- Go to Storage (your files).
- Click New folder, give it a name.
- Drag files into the folder, or upload directly inside it.
The folder is private by default; only you can see it.
Sharing the folder
Two access models, both work:
Public link (72 hours)
- Open the folder → Share → Generate public link.
- The link is
app.soundassist.online/f/<token>. Send it. - Anyone with the link can view + download for 72 hours. After that the link expires and they get a "Link expired" page.
Use the public link for:
- One-shot transfers to someone who doesn't need ongoing access.
- Quickly bouncing files to someone over chat without setting up a member relationship.
Member-based (co-owned)
- Open the folder → Share → Add member.
- Type the collaborator's email. If they have an account, they're added immediately. If not, we send an invite they accept by creating an account.
- The collaborator now sees the folder permanently in Storage.
- Both of you can add files; both see updates in real time.
Use member-based sharing for:
- Long-running collaborations.
- Bands working on a release where files accumulate over weeks.
- Mastering engineer + artist relationships where revisions flow back and forth.
Removing access
For the public link: open the folder → Share → Revoke link. The old URL stops working immediately. The folder is private again.
For members: open the folder → Members → click the × next to the member's name. They lose access on the next page load.
File types
Folders accept a wider range than the track-upload path:
- Audio: all the formats from audio-formats-and-quality
- Documents: PDF, TXT, MD, DOC, DOCX, CSV, XLS, XLSX
- Archives: ZIP, RAR, 7Z, TAR, GZ, BZ2
- Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, SVG
- Video: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI
- DAW projects: .logicx, .ptx / .ptf, .rpp, .als, .flp, .cpr, .song
Blocked: executables (.exe, .bat, .sh, .msi), HTML, scripts, anything that
could run in a browser. We err strict on this; your collaborator
shouldn't have to wonder if your .zip is safe.
