The session folder
How files shared inside a session land in a folder you both keep.
What the session folder is
Every live session has a folder attached to it. Anything either party drops in during the session lands there. After the session ends, the folder stays.
This is the answer to "we just had a 90-minute session, but where did all those files we exchanged go?". They're in the session folder.
Where to find it
After a session ends, the folder appears in two places:
- For the host: under Storage in a folder named after the guest's display name + session date.
- For the guest: if they're signed in, the folder appears in their Storage too. If they joined as an anonymous guest, the folder is sent to them as a download link via the chat history.
What stays in the folder
Everything dropped during the session:
- Audio files the host played that the guest wanted to keep
- DAW project exports
- Reference tracks the host pulled in for comparison
- Voice messages either side recorded
- Notes / images / PDFs
The folder is member-shared by default; both parties can see + add to it later. Either party can leave the folder via Storage → folder → Leave folder if they're done with it.
Pre-session folder
You can also prepare a folder BEFORE a session starts. This is useful when the artist sends you their stems / references the night before:
- Create a folder in Storage.
- Drop the files in.
- When you start the session, attach the folder via the Pre-session folder picker.
- Both you and the guest land in the room with the folder already populated. No "let me upload my stems first" waiting.
The pre-session folder pattern is what mastering engineers use most. The artist sends a folder share invite the morning of the session, the engineer's review goes in there during the session, the master file lands there at the end.
Cleaning up
Session folders accumulate. After 90 days of inactivity the folder shows a "Last activity 90+ days ago" hint in the file list. Nothing auto-deletes; that's a decision you make. To remove:
- Storage → folder → ⋯ → Delete folder.
- All files inside go too (cascade delete).
- Both members lose access.
If the folder contains files only the other party owns, you'll see Leave folder instead of Delete folder. Leaving removes you from the member list; the folder + files persist for the other party.
