Export your data
Download a copy of your data: everything tied to your account (GDPR Art. 15).
What's in the export
GDPR Article 15 says you have the right to a copy of every personal-data record we hold about you. Ours is one file (JSON, so any text editor opens it) containing:
- Your profile row (username, display name, bio, banner / avatar URLs, birth year, country, role)
- Your tracks (titles, descriptions, BPM, key, public flag, storage keys, share tokens; the audio itself is not in the file, it downloads separately from the listen pages)
- Your folders (names, parent IDs, share tokens, public-until timestamps)
- Your files (filenames, sizes, file types, storage keys)
- Your posts (bodies, image URLs, group affiliations), including the ones you wrote in a group
- Your post comments + likes (what you've said + liked)
- Your track comments + likes
- Your follows (who you follow, who follows you)
- Your messages (inbox conversations, both directions)
- Your activities (the actions surfaced in your activity feed)
- Your group memberships + groups you own
- Your email_preferences (digest cadence, opt-outs)
- Your email_events referring to your address
- Your sessions + session_summaries
- Your bookings + relationships + service_orders (if you use those)
If any part of your data can't be read when you click, the download stops
and asks you to try again, so you never get a file with something quietly
missing. In the one case where a few rows can't be matched to you with
certainty (a room code two accounts have used), the file says so itself:
complete is false and omitted lists which sections, and we go through
those by hand.
How to download
- Go to Settings → Privacy.
- Click Download my data.
- The JSON downloads to your default downloads folder.
The file is built the moment you click. There is no "we'll email you the link later" step.
The audio files themselves are not in the file; they are too big to bundle. It carries the storage keys instead, so you can download each one from the listen pages or from the master / FLAC URLs while signed in.
What's NOT in the export
By GDPR design, personal data about OTHER people isn't in your export:
- Comments others wrote on your tracks (those are the commenter's data)
- Other people's profile data even if they follow / follow you (only the follow-relationship row is yours)
- Group content posted by other members
If you want a full backup of everything you can see (your tracks + other people's comments on them), the listen pages have the comment threads visible; you can copy them from there.
What about historical data?
The export reflects the live state at the moment you click. We don't keep edit history; if you renamed a track from "Mix v1" to "Mix v3" last week, the export shows "Mix v3" only.
Audit logs (admin actions) are retained internally per legal requirements (typically 7 years for billing-related actions) but those aren't returned to the user; they are internal records about processing, not personal data.
Rate limit
Self-service exports are rate-limited at 3 per hour. The point isn't to hide anything; it's to stop a fuzzer from triggering the expensive query loop repeatedly. If you legitimately need more than 3 exports in an hour, email info@soundassist.online and we'll flush the limit for you.
